In one year, a young woman who cut hair for $0.3 in the garage conquers her own salon (SP)

It’s been almost a year since Thayssa Caramez went viral on social media with a post announcing haircuts for R$2. The improvised barbershop in the garage at home has a new look and maintains a loyal clientele!

Thayssa is the daughter of a hairdresser and decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps, Gisele Rosa, specializing in men’s cuts. With just a chair, an old machine and a reused mirror, the teenager from Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo, opened Barbearia da Thay.

Gisele published the announcement of the cut at R$ 2 on social networks and boomm! The publication went viral and what was meant to attract some customers from the neighborhood, reached thousands of people across the country – that wonderful incentive for those who are afraid to start a “small” undertaking.

In addition to many, many new customers, Barbearia da Thay was selected for a TV program that renovates beauty salons and the train was very chic! She and Gisele also won several professional courses!

Followed up with a promise to keep the price low

And look, even with the renovated space, Thay followed through with the promise he made to his clients to keep the price of the cut low, until he obtained his professional certification. At the end of last year, it increased to R$10.

Thay had to close the barbershop for a while during this pandemic, as a measure to protect her customers and herself. It is gradually coming back and luckily managed to keep the clientele. Today, prices are on average for other salons in the neighborhood, from R$15 to R$20.

“I started with a simple idea, which turned into something much bigger than I imagined. I’m very happy, it’s nice to see that there are so many people supporting me, so many good people in the world. I now have more customers every day”, he celebrates.

Future

Thay is still attending the 2nd year of high school. He intends to keep the barbershop as it is today until he goes to college. She wants to do Media Production, to boost Thay’s Barber Shop even more on the internet.

At just 17 years old, Thay already knows what he wants in life and will go after it to achieve everything he wants. “Knowing what I want from my future has been really good for me. Things are working out,’” he concludes.
