Miss Ghana gives up luxury lifestyle and returns to her village: ‘Family comes first’

Ghanaian model Hamanat Montia had an entire career ahead of her, with runways around the world waiting for her shows. But she had other plans for her life: after all, for Hamanat, her personal fulfillment is not fame or fortune, but her family.

The young woman started her career as a model in her teens, participating in beauty contests. In 2006, she won the title of Miss Malaika and Miss Ghana.

In 2007, she competed in Miss Universe Africa – a pageant that raised her to international fame. At the time, the jury was unanimous, highlighting her beauty, stage presence and intelligence, which would open many doors for her professionally.

Embracing her career, Hamanat had to leave her village and lead a very different lifestyle than what she was used to.

Despite the success on the catwalks, the young woman saw the family relationship collapse, starting with the separation of her husband and father of her two daughters.

Divorce made her rethink that maybe she wasn’t in the right place. In crisis, Hamanat began to have financial problems and lost the ability to maintain the luxurious lifestyle he led.

So, faced with so many adversities, she ended her career and decided to return to the simplicity of her village. Without thinking twice, the young woman took her daughters and returned to Ghana, on the west coast of Africa.

Returning to her origins was not an easy process for Hamanat, who had to readapt to her old routine with the support of her family, since her friends turned their backs on her.

Undeterred, the young woman not only reintegrated into the village, but also found pleasure in small day-to-day activities, such as producing shea butter – a regional product that brings multiple health benefits.

And more: Hamanat opened a sales business focused on artisanal butter, which guarantees her daily livelihood.

Recently, she patented the brand “Hamanat African Beauty”, and she has received orders from customers all over the world, not just limited to Ghana.

Thanks to her tireless quest to improve herself, the former model has grown little by little, without forgetting her origins and her family. “Family first,” she said in a post shared on Instagram.

You are pure inspiration, Hamanat! 😍
